Love may be the most powerful force on earth — but we’re not very skillful at delivering it to ourselves! Stress is an inevitable aspect of human life that can help us build new strengths or cause great suffering. While we cannot avoid difficult events, we can learn to respond skillfully to life’s challenges and maintain our equilibrium.

In this second of two parts, we will focus on how we can cultivate inner steadiness and resilience through regular practice, and how we can use the teachings of Yoga to break old patterns and cultivate the mindfulness to cope with stressful situations as they arise. Ultimately, we can learn to stay centered in the deep, healing peace that resides within us and remain unshaken by the ever-changing world we live in.

Hatha Yoga Series – Moving Inside, Outside & Beyond Our Hatha Practice

$25 | Please register in advance, a zoom link will be provided via confirmation email.

Hatha Yoga Series Part 1 – Building a Doable & Daily Asana Practice

This 3 part series meets on the first Wednesday of the month.

Many of us know that a hatha practice is useful and beneficial and we hope to practice daily. But we’ve either over-committed, under-commited or simply became inconsistent and lost momentum. Maintaining success with a daily practice and making the time to practice will be highlighted in this workshop. Allowing yourself to feel the benefits from a brief, daily practice versus an occasional or very intermittent 60 or 90-minute practice can be a useful approach. In other words, even if the bar is low and you practiced that day, that equals success! Having additional inspiration, support, knowledge and even an accountability partner can make the difference. Getting something in place now can better assure us that stressful and difficult times ahead can be met with better tools of resilience. Set up at home and be prepared for a mixture of lecture, workshop and asana practice. Practice sheets will be offered and sent via email for those who would like some guidance and optional sequences for 15, 30, and 45 minute hatha practices.

Yoga Therapy Clinic presents: Navigating Stressful Times for School Age Children and their Families through Yoga, Breathing and Somatic Movement Activities with Shawnee Thornton Hardy

This workshop will offer tools for parents, educators, therapists and anyone who works with children and youth to help them navigate the stressful times we are currently facing. We are experiencing a global trauma that is significantly impacting the mental and emotional states of children. It is not unexpected as parents or adults who work with school age children to be seeing an increase in agitation, frustration, anger, fear, sadness and anxiety as they try to make sense of changes in their daily routines and disconnection from their peers, families, teachers and other important adults in their lives. We will discuss the impact stress can have on a child’s nervous system, how this impacts their mood, behavior and learning and how we as adults can be the co-regulators and offer tools to support children with connecting to their bodies, sensations and emotions in order to express their emotions in a healthy way, self-regulate and build resilience and capacity on their nervous systems.

Continuing Education: 2 hours with Yoga Alliance. Certificate given upon request from the teacher directly.
