Yoga Therapy Clinic presents:

Join Diana Meltsner, a certified yoga therapist and learn to understand the importance of core strength as support for balance, lower back function, joint stability and more.

We will look at the anatomy just briefly and then in movement we will recognize and feel the different parts of the core and how they can engage in movement and interplay with the rest of the body. We will explore what happens when we use or don’t use the core, and how to re-educate the body to start using these muscles to create stability .

We will practice in a gentle way series of strengthening practices for your core. It will be done in a chair, standing and on the floor.

All levels of practitioners are welcome.

 

Diana Meltsner, C-IAYT and e-RYT500, has been teaching yoga in the Bay Area since 2001. The classes she teaches include chair/gentle, various levels of Hatha yoga, prenatal, guided mindfulness meditations and yoga and meditation workshops. Diana has been a lead teacher trainer for 200-hour Integral Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2012. She is C-IAYT certified yoga therapist and offers individual therapeutic sessions with focus on physical and mental wellness. Part 3 – Practicing Yoga for the Internal and Universal Body

This 3 part series meets on the first Wednesday of the month.

Our egos can get a kick out of our asana practice, especially when focused on physical accomplishments. If consumed by external motivation, we may miss some of the more profound effects and nuanced gifts of this moving meditation. This last part of the 3-part series will round out the conversation of “Moving Inside, Outside and Beyond Our Hatha Practice” by shifting emphasis to the benefits from the seen to the unseen. We’ll look deep within at basic anatomy and how the postures impact our organs and internal body, and even deeper within at the spiritual side that moves toward self-realization offered by a steady, committed, and unbroken hatha practice. When our reason to get on our mats goes beyond even our own benefits, a lasting and sustainable motivation may help us onward and inspire us to be of service to others. Can the universe hear one body practicing?! Set up at home and be prepared for a mixture of lecture, workshop and asana practice.

 

Marc Mukunda Morozumi, ERYT 200, CMT began practicing Ashtanga yoga in 2001 while a full-time modern dancer with Joe Goode Performance Group in SF, CA. Due to injury, Mukunda retired from his 12 year dance career in 2004 and entered the events industry from 2004-2016. A 2-month personal trip to India in 2007 paved the way for landing in Yogaville in 2009 for his first teacher training with Swami Divyananda and staff. One month after returning from graduation, Mukunda began teaching a Saturday morning class at the SF IYI which he maintained for over 10 years. Mukunda has co-led Integral Yoga retreats since 2011 and has staffed or co-led Basic Teacher Trainings since 2013. He has opened and managed small group yoga studios in SF since 2017 and in early 2020, he opened and then reformed a yoga center post COVID-19: Mukunda Yoga – Activation and Well-being Center in SOMA, SF, CA. Part 2 – What Happens on the Mat Doesn’t Stay on the Mat!

This 3-part series meets on the first Wednesday of the month. 

Hoping to catch your attention, this workshop aims to inspire you to maintain a hatha practice that you can boldly add into our daily schedule! No need to keep your practice all to yourself. 🙂 Our yoga mats can be a sacred space where we build deep awareness and a very significant relationship with our own mind, body and spirit – that is ours to honor always. These experiences can be life-changing and can also be the research space for understanding the movements and challenges of everyday life. Many Integral Yoga swamis suggest that the real practice of yoga happens during the other 23 hours of the day when we’re NOT on our mat! Making personal note of what is actually occurring on the mat, we can begin to make connections in everyday life and have a better chance at efficiently returning to our peace. Set up at home and be prepared for a mixture of lecture, workshop and asana practice.

Love may be the most powerful force on earth — but we’re not very skillful at delivering it to ourselves! This workshop will explore the many ways to shine the light of love on our own selves without being selfish – giving consideration to our attitudes, choices and options. Self-care is of vital importance to us all.

Swami Divyananda Ma is one of Integral Yoga’s senior monastics and foremost teachers. Over the years she served as director at the Integral Yoga Institutes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Coimbatore, India and as the Ashram Manager in Yogaville. Presently she teaches and conducts trainings in the US and around the world, and leads an annual tour to the sacred temples and ashrams of India.
