Saints of India

Swami Divyananda spent eleven years in India, the sacred home of Yoga. In this unique workshop, she will share stories and teachings from the Indian saints of this last century, with importance given to those who were an influence on Sri Swami Satchidanandaji.
Part biography, part memoir, and part travelogue, this is for armchair travelers and spiritual seekers of all traditions.

Swami Divyananda Ma, E-RYT 500, has had a wealth of experience teaching Integral Yoga around the world since 1973. She has taught at corporations, universities, the Commonwealth Cancer Center, and for the Dr. Dean Ornish Reversing Heart Disease programs. She has also served as one of Integral Yoga’s Basic Hatha teacher trainers.

Swami Divyananda Ma took monastic vows in 1975 from the great saint and yogi, Sri Swami Satchidananda. Over the years she has served as the director of the Integral Yoga Institutes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and as Ashram Manager at Yogaville. She also served for ten years as the director of the Integral Yoga Institute in Coimbatore, India; this immersion into the South Indian culture has given depth to her understanding and practice of Yoga.

Now an itinerant monk, Swami Divyananda is constantly “on the road.” She leads the annual Sacred India Tours to sacred sites in India in addition to international Yoga retreats and trainings.Learn more at sacredindiatours.org

$20 Regular price

Please register in advance, a Zoom link and passcode will be provided via confirmation email.

At this New Moon, we will open our being to the sideways flow of the moon salutation asana series and open the doors to allowing the voice of intuition and creativity to come forth and manifest. This feminine flow, the creative process comes from stillness “darkness of the night”, the empty canvas, the empty page.

We will dive into exploration of our bodies, let our patterns come to surface and will allow space for expression and sharing.

Prior experience with yoga and meditation is helpful.

Yoga Therapy Clinic presents:

Proper strengthening and stabilizing of the pelvic floor helps to create the correct foundation of each movement in the body. This is the true meaning of “core work.” Whether you experience any of these conditions, or are just plain curious about this region of the body, this workshop is for you:

• pelvic pain
• lower back, hip or groin problems
• discomfort during sex or while using tampons
• skin irritation *leak when laughing or sneezing
• have to go the bathroom too often
• prolapsed organs
• pre and post pregnancy

In this workshop we will locate, assess, soften, stretch, strengthen and exercise the muscle groups of the pelvic floor, discuss mula bandha, abdominal health and how to utilize the pelvic floor in asana. Part one of the workshop will begin with anatomy, lecture and discussion, followed by subtle experiential movements to awaken your understanding of this often ignored area. There will be a short break  and then we will move to a series of specific exercises and asanas for the pelvic floor. Handouts will be provided. Bring your friends, sisters, mothers and daughters. Join Astrud Castillo for Partner Yoga.

Partner Yoga is a playground for learning to embrace various aspects of ourselves and our partners.
It is more important than ever to embrace, breathe and have fun with one another.

The practice of partner yoga allows us to sit with sensations of physical touch and feelings of intimacy in a time many of us have been starved and deprived of such experiences. Grab someone you are close with and we can explore the beauty and power behind interdependence, as opposed to independence, as we use each other to support, deepen and relax into the moment.

All levels of practice are welcome.

Astrud Castillo

Since 2012, Astrud has been leading her band the Cosmic Caravan locally, nationally and internationally. It is with faith in the power of sound, vibration and the Bhakti Yoga tradition that she has committed herself to uplift the spirit, awaken the heart and deepen relationships to oneself and others. She passionately guides communities in the ancient art of Kirtan – singing the names of the divine through call-and-response chanting.

Astrud shows up to sing wherever she is called with a desire to lead people closer to their hearts and their truest essence – LOVE – the heart of Bhakti Yoga. She leads Kirtans at yoga studios and festivals, in addition to teaching Bhakti Yoga workshops and teacher trainings.

The practice of constant surrender is what has transformed her and inspires her the most. Astrud’s chanting is rooted in Kirtan’s traditional style of simple devotional repetition, while including her own original arrangements. She calls on her own voice to express authentically and inspires all who join her to sing in the key of “WE”.

She has opened for Jai Uttal, as well as sung with Prema Hara, the Kirtaniyas, Radiance Kirtan, and Keith Borden.
