Come and learn how profound nourishment can accelerate our spiritual growth. This Satsang will discuss how each food choice you make can either support spiritual growth or undermine it. We’ll review clear, simple guidelines from the teachings of Yoga to determine an optimal approach to diet in order for you to feel profoundly alive on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. Let’s use food to seek and live your purpose!

Satsang offers an opportunity to come together to share spiritual teachings. The philosophy of Integral Yoga is explored, often through an informal discussion. Although spiritual paths may diverge, the act of sharing spiritual teachings with others is inspiring and creates a solid foundation for continued practice.

Saeeda Hafiz is a yoga teacher, author, and wellness expert with certifications from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers, the Natural Gourmet Institute. She is also a graduate of Temple University. As a holistic health educator with the San Francisco Unified School District, she focuses on sharing her knowledge of physical and mental wellness with diverse groups. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has appeared on various podcasts, radio, and television programs and has been featured in several national and regional publications. Swami Ramananda is the Executive Director of the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco and a greatly respected senior teacher in the Integral Yoga tradition, who has been practicing Yoga for over 45 years. Ramananda offers practical methods of integrating the timeless teachings and practices of Yoga into daily life, and transforming the painful aspects of human experience into steps toward realizing one’s full potential. Is your life filled with meaning and purpose? These 3 Swamis will explore a sense of purpose and share the key teachings for experiencing fulfillment and joy in life. It is a rare occasion to have these three Swamis participating together in a program. Each Swami will speak briefly followed by an open discussion.

Swami Asokananda, E-RYT 500, a monk since 1973, is one of Integral Yoga’s foremost teachers—known for his warmth, intelligence, and good humor. His teaching comes out of his own practice and experience, having absorbed the wisdom of his Guru, Sri Swami Satchidananda.
While he enjoys sharing the practical wisdom of yogic philosophy (especially the great Indian scripture, the Bhagavad Gita), he also loves his practice of Hatha Yoga. He is one of Yogaville’s primary instructors for intermediate and advanced Hatha Yoga teacher trainings.

He presently serves as president at the Integral Yoga Institute in New York City. Before this position, he served as the President of Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville and Integral Yoga International.
Swami Divyananda Ma, E-RYT 500, has had a wealth of experience teaching Integral Yoga around the world since 1973. She has taught at corporations, universities, the Commonwealth Cancer Center, and for the Dr. Dean Ornish Reversing Heart Disease programs. She has also served as one of Integral Yoga’s Basic Hatha teacher trainers.

Swami Divyananda Ma took monastic vows in 1975 from the great saint and yogi, Sri Swami Satchidananda. Over the years she has served as the director of the Integral Yoga Institutes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and as Ashram Manager at Yogaville. She also served for ten years as the director of the Integral Yoga Institute in Coimbatore, India; this immersion into the South Indian culture has given depth to her understanding and practice of Yoga.

Now an itinerant monk, Swami Divyananda is constantly “on the road.” She leads the annual Sacred India Tours to sacred sites in India in addition to international Yoga retreats and trainings. Learn more at sacredindiatours.org.

Encountering others who have perspectives on racial or social justice that are very different from our own can be uncomfortable. But if faced with equanimity and an understanding of our True Nature, these moments can contribute to our spiritual growth as well as to the creation of a world in which all beings can experience peace, joy, love and light.

In this Satsang, Rev. Kamala Itzel Hayward will share some skills on how to use the teachings of Yoga in difficult conversations so that you can maintain your peace, build common ground, and ultimately help to create a world that works for all. The gathering will include time for Q & A and will conclude with a brief meditation.

After practicing law for 13 years, Kamala Itzel Hayward left her successful legal career to pursue social justice and antiracism work through the lens of mindfulness and wellness. Today, she is a Yoga teacher, Yoga therapist, and Yoga teacher trainer. She has shared Yoga with trauma survivors—including underhoused individuals, combat veterans, and survivors of human trafficking—since 2010. She was a Stress Management Specialist for Dr. Dean Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease and currently teaches for Dr. Ornish non-profit organization, the Preventive Medicine Research Institute. In addition to sharing Yoga and other transformational practices, Kamala is also a mindful communication trainer, an antiracism educator, and a fierce and compassionate advocate for love. We may think of Yoga practice as something we do for ourselves to promote wellness, relieve stress and improve concentration. It surely has these effects, but a complete Yoga practice is a way of life that reveals our innate connection to each other and inevitably inspires us to act in ways that serve the well-being of all.

In this Satsang, we’ll explore how our personal practice and our daily actions support each other in awakening the inner Light that dwells in everyone. We’ll discuss how serving others with genuine care is also healing for our hearts and can bring spiritual meaning to every aspect of our lives. Ultimately, we are all learning, one act of kindness at a time, that loving each other and loving ourselves are actually the same thing.
