This comprehensive 9-week course will offer a chance to take your own practice to a deeper level, experience Yoga as a way of life and receive well-rounded Yoga studies founded in the teachings of Integral Yoga.

The Yoga Immersion Program opens the door to personal transformation and spiritual fulfillment. This comprehensive 9-week course offers an opportunity to deepen your practice, experience Yoga as a way of life, and engage in well-rounded studies rooted in the teachings of Integral Yoga—a classical Yoga tradition. All levels of practice are welcome; however, some prior experience is required.

“Yoga believes in transforming the individual before transforming the world. Whatever change we want to happen outside should happen within. If you walk in peace and express that peace in your very life, others will see you and learn something.”— Sri Swami Satchidananda

Curriculum Overview
The program offers in-depth learning across various aspects of Yoga practice:

  • Yoga Asana – Practice and theory based on the Integral Yoga Level 1 sequence, an inward, spiritually focused form of Hatha Yoga. This style is designed to lead practitioners toward inner peace and greater self-awareness. Emphasis will be placed on developing a personalized Hatha Yoga practice.
  • Philosophy – A comprehensive Raja Yoga course with Swami Ramananda, exploring the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali through the lens of Sri Swami Satchidananda’s commentary. The course will conclude with a written review.
  • Pranayama and Meditation – Guidance in establishing a personal practice rooted in traditional yogic methods, complemented by discussions on benefits supported by current scientific research and personal experience.
  • Anatomy – An introduction to basic physiology and the body’s systems to support understanding of the benefits of Yoga practice and to help make informed decisions about what to include in one’s personal practice.
  • Yogic Lifestyle – An introduction to traditional yogic paths that support a well-rounded yogic lifestyle, including Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga—core elements of the Integral Yoga tradition.

The Integral Yoga Immersion Program provides a strong foundation for those who may wish to become Yoga teachers. It serves as Module 1 of our two-part, 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training format. Whether or not you choose to teach, this program will support you in deepening your personal Yoga practice, taking it off the mat, and integrating it more fully into your daily life—helping to cultivate a lasting sense of ease in the body and peace in the mind.

Graduates who complete both Module 1 and Module 2 are certified to teach Beginner Level Hatha Yoga and are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200. You may choose to complete Module 2 within two years to fulfill the full certification requirements.

Tuition includes free access to all Yoga classes offered at Integral Yoga Institute San Francisco and free access to IYTV, a large and ever-expanding library of recorded Integral Yoga Teachings and classes, throughout the duration of this course!

Celebrating Community; Karma Yoga

Free

We appreciate advance registration.

Join us for a few hours of fun, food, and meaningful connection as we explore how to transform our work into spiritual practice. We’ll begin with a brief talk and discussion on the practice of Karma Yoga, led by Swami Ramananda. This will be followed by an opportunity to support our beautiful building through mindful service—cleaning the Institute’s classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas with awareness and joy.

We’ll conclude our time together with an extended deep relaxation and a nourishing meal. During the meal, we will honor the dedicated Karma Yogis who have generously supported the Institute over the past few years.

Work done in the right attitude becomes consecrated; becomes a sacred act. A life consecrated in doing selfless acts will become a divine life.” – Swami Sivananda

Kia Meaux. I have been a dedicated student of yoga since 1989 beginning with my first teacher, Richard Freeman in Boulder, CO. I began teaching my alignment-based vinyasa flow classes in 1998 here in San Francisco and then eventually opened my own yoga studio, Kaya Yoga in 2006. Due to Covid I closed my yoga studio in 2022 and currently only teach yoga online. My interest has moved more towards meditation and the practice of deeply contemplating “What Am I? I am currently a Resident of the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco where I have the great fortune to manage the daily organization of the house.
