Have you ever felt like you were carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Are the neck and shoulders the area where you feel tension due to stress? Do you have recurring or chronic pain?

We will explore how to release the tension and also how to support the area with mindful movement.
In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to build supportive muscle strength
  • Basic anatomy of the shoulders
  • Discuss the common causes that trigger shoulder pain
  • Preventive measures that can minimize the recurring pain
  • Stretches and strengthening practices to incorporate into your personal Hatha practice
  • Ways to release strain in neck and shoulders with mindfulness practice

There will be time for questions. This workshop is open to students of all levels. There will be some seated (chair or floor) and some laying down practices.

Diana Meltsner, C-IAYT, e-RYT500, started to offer individual yoga therapy sessions and working in clinical setting for Kaiser Permanente in 2005. She uses wide variety of yoga practices; including individualized physical postures, breathing, guided relaxation, meditation, mantra, as well as mindfulness practices. Her clients are often post-injury, post or pre-surgery, have chronic pain and other chronic illnesses, have pregnancy complications, and in the clinical setting are often recommended by Kaiser Permanente physicians. She focuses also on healing aspects of yoga on the mind; anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional health. Spiritual counseling is part of what is offered in the individual sessions as well as developing a healthy daily routine, when requested. My name is Padma Borrego, C-IAYT. I have a long history of working with bodies and people though bodywork, yoga and energy healing. I have spent most of my life deepening my relationship with my body. What began as an injury and pain has transformed into the bigger conversation about what my body, my heart and my spirit needed to grow. Stepping more into these conversations in my physical body has balanced the desires in my outer life and voice in my soul. I am a certified yoga instructor/therapist, structural integrator (Rolfer), and energy healer with hands-on learning from my teachers and my clients for over 25 years.
