200-Hour Yoga Alliance RegistrationRYS 200-AROUND-BLACK

The Integral Yoga Teacher Training program has been training Yoga teachers for over thirty-five years. Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training prepares students to teach our Beginners Level Hatha Yoga Class, which is a specific system of asanas (poses), guided relaxation (savasana/yoga nidra), pranayama (breathing practices) and seated silent meditation that was created by Sri Swami Satchidananda.

Our class emphasizes an inward flow, from the more active asanas to the silent reflection of meditation – which we teach at the end of all of our classes.

The best way to learn about the content of our training is to attend a drop-in Integral Yoga Hatha class. Visit our Schedule here

Integral Yoga is a classical school of Yoga that follows the traditional Yoga teachings that have been handed down through an ancient lineage of yogis. Our founder, Sri Swami Satchidananda, was a student of Sri Swami Sivananda, the great Indian Yoga master. The focus of Integral Yoga is the application of the teachings in our daily lives. We strive to have an easeful body, peaceful mind, and useful life.

Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training program is a journey into the classical teachings of yoga with an emphasis on the six branches of Integral Yoga: Hatha Yoga – physical practices; Raja Yoga – yoga philosophy and scripture study; Bhakti Yoga – devotional practices; Jnana Yoga – wisdom/introspection; Karma Yoga – selfless service; and Japa Yoga – meditation and mantras.

Many people take the teacher training program as a way of deepening their own practice and understanding of the teachings. The training is offered in two different schedule formats: Sunday-only which runs through the spring each year, and a thirteen-week intensive that runs from September to December. Check out our schedule of upcoming trainings to see when the next one is scheduled.

We also offer Teacher Training Open Houses at least one month prior to the start of each program. This is a great way to find out more information about our program and to make sure it is the right fit for you. If you have any questions please contact our Program Manager

Teacher Training FAQ

IMG_3145_copyWhat kinds of Yoga Teacher Training do you offer?

We offer basic and advanced Yoga teacher training. We have a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training which conforms to the national standards set by the Yoga Alliance for a 200-hour program, and similarly we offer a 300-hour program that allows graduates to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT500, or advanced Yoga teacher.

How often do you offer the Basic Yoga Teacher Training?

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is offered twice a year, spring and fall.

Can you describe the content of Basic Yoga Teacher Training?

The Integral Yoga Teacher Training program has been training Yoga teachers for over thirty years. Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training prepares students to teach our Beginners Level Hatha Yoga Class, which is a specific system of asana, relaxation, pranayama and meditation created by Sri Swami Satchidananda.

Our class emphasizes an inward flow, from the more active asanas to the silent reflection of meditation – which we teach at the end of all of our classes. The best way to learn about the content of our training is to attend a drop-in Integral Yoga Hatha class.

Is there a prerequisite for this training?

Yes, the two prerequisites for the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training are an active yoga practice, and familiarity with Integral Yoga. An active practice means that you feel that you have been practicing long enough to have a basic understanding of Yoga, and have integrated a Yoga practice into your life.

Familiarity with Integral Yoga means that you have either taken a number of classes at the Integral Yoga Institute, or studied with an Integral Yoga teacher in a different setting. If you do not live near an Integral Yoga teacher you can purchase a cd of an Integral Yoga class, and practice on your own.

How do I know if I’m ready to take Yoga Teacher Training?

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training can be a great way of deepening your Yoga practice.

But we recommend taking our other workshops and course classes first before taking the Yoga Teacher Training course. These other classes will help to prepare you for the course, and help you familiarize yourself with the teachings of Integral Yoga.

This is a time-intensive course that takes a serious commitment of both your time and energy. There are many hours of class time and additional time on reading, homework, practice, and memorization. Plus, you will need to spend time six days a week on your personal practice of Hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation.

Some people take the course because they are interested in teaching Yoga. But, some other people feel that this is the best way of deepening their understanding of Yoga, even though they don’t intend to teach.

How many students are in the course?

We only accept a maximum of 15 students in our training because of the size of the classrooms and the retreat center. This small class size allows for personal attention, and an intimate bond between the students.

Do you offer advanced trainings as well?

Yes, yoga teachers who have completed a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training that is registered with the Yoga Alliance can apply for our graduate level Yoga teacher trainings. We offer training in Intermediate Level Hatha Yoga, Yoga for the Special Child, Raja Yoga (yoga philosophy), Accessible Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga Training, Meditation Teacher Training and more. Many of these trainings can be used toward our 300-Hour Teacher Training Certification and your 500-Hour Yoga Alliance certification, which is the advanced level of Yoga teacher training.
