Once, Sri Swami Satchidananda was asked why it didn’t seem like people in the West were becoming enlightened at that same rate that they were in the East. He replied, “You think you can do it by yourself!” Sri Swamiji taught us that sangha–spiritual community–is the most essential component of a strong spiritual practice. We need the support, inspiration, and comradery of our brothers and sisters on the path.

Here at the Integral Yoga Institute we offer many ways for people to connect to our Sangha. We come together to practice and live by the teachings of Yoga. We invite you to come to one of our many free and by-donation events to connect more deeply with our community.

On the first and third Saturday evening of each month we have Satsang; which means coming together as a community in the truth. Our Satsang events usually include a talk by a senior teacher, a dvd of Sri Swami Satchidananda with discussion, and often includes chanting and a light ceremony, Arati. For the dates of our upcoming programs please visit our events page.

Deep Relaxation – Yoga Nidra

A by-donation class which leads you through an extended Yoga Nidra, a full-body guided meditation of relaxation of body, mind, and spirit. Please visit our class schedule to see when Deep Relaxation is currently being offered.

Community Kirtan

Kirtan, or responsive chanting of the names of the divine, is a devotional, Bhakti Yoga practice. We offer by-donation kirtan events where we invite the participants to lead a chant, or just chant along with us. See our events listing for upcoming dates.

Guru Puja

We celebrate the founder of Integral Yoga, Sri Swami Satchidananda, with a monthly puja around the 22nd of each month – because his birthday is December 22. Puja is an Eastern worship service that includes symbolic offerings of flowers, incense, light and water at an altar. Please see our events listing for upcoming dates.

Holiday Celebrations

We come together to celebrate different holidays throughout the year with interfaith ceremonies and potluck meals. We always have a special celebration on New Year’s Eve. Please visit our events listing for upcoming holiday celebrations.

Work Exchange

We offer many opportunities for work in exchange for yoga classes here at the Integral Yoga Institute. This is one of the best ways to connect with our community. We always welcome volunteers to help with reception, cooking, cleaning and gardening. Please contact us to fill out a work exchange application

Community Yoga Classes

These are donation-based traditional Hatha Yoga classes taught by our new teachers; great for beginners or continuing students. Our classes include chanting, asanas (postures), Yoga Nidra (guided deep relaxation), pranayama (breathing practices), and meditation. Visit our class schedule to see when Community Yoga Classes are being offered.

Residency Program

As an active ashram, we have ten residents who lead a Yoga-based lifestyle including a vegetarian diet (no meat, fish or eggs), daily meditations, and strive to live by principles like compassion and truthfulness in all relationships. We offer residency to people interested in attending regular group meditation and supporting each other in leading a Yogic lifestyle and supporting the Institute in sharing the teachings of Yoga.

If you are interested in residency we ask that you start by simply visiting us to see how we live and practice, or you could come as a guest to see even more fully the life we lead. If you would like more information please contact us.

Free and open to all. Join us for meditation, which includes chanting, breathing exercises and sitting in silence. It may be helpful to attend a Hatha Yoga class or Meditation Workshop before attending our regular meditations. Meditation is held at noon Monday through Friday, and at 5:45pm on Monday through Thursday.
