Mantra is an instrument of the mind—a powerful sound or vibration. The word mantra can be broken down into two parts: “man\,” which means mind\, and “tra\,” which means transport or vehicle. SUMMARY:Make Your Own Probiotics! The Art of Making Sauerkraut
DESCRIPTION:We apologize\, this event has been cancelled\, and will be reschedule in the near future. Please check out schedule for all upcoming events. Thank you. Om Shanti.\n  \nOnline & In-Person | $15\, $20 \nNot only does sauerkraut provide probiotics and vitamin K2\, it also helps improve digestion and strengthens the immune system. In this one-hour workshop\, we will show you how easy it is to make sauerkraut in the comfort of your own kitchen. We’ll begin with a little demo\, while you follow and participate in your own process. After the workshop\, you’ll have at home a jar of sauerkraut to ferment.\nWhat to have ready:\n\nAn empty 1-quart wide-mouth mason jar (shown in picture)\nApron\nCutting board\nKnife\nLarge mixing bowl\nA pair of latex gloves (if you don’t want to touch the sauerkraut with your bare hands)\nOne cabbage\nA handle of dill\n3″ ginger\n\n BIO: Pearl Bindu Chaozon Bauer\nMy name is Pearl Bindu Bauer\, and I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation for almost 20 years. The literal meaning of yoga is “union” and what I love about yoga is how it helps me find alignment in my body/mind/spirit and physical/emotional connections. While meditating helps me stay calm\, the asana practice on the mat helps me come into my body – so the balance between the two is key for my daily practice. In my classes\, I often incorporate intentional practice – for example\, I do a series on the Yamas and a series on the Niyamas so we meditate on principles of yoga while practicing mantras and asanas on the mat. I am also trained in yoga therapy which finds ways of how the practice of yoga can help with the understanding of common illnesses and conditions so people who are undergoing physical and emotional trauma can live a more easeful existence. While stretching and strengthening the physical body are a big part of the yoga practice\, we also focus on deep relaxation\, breathwork and meditation as practices that are equally important to our well being.

SUMMARY:Kirtan with Nina Rao
DESCRIPTION:In-person | $20 \nEnroll/In-person Please review our In-person Safety Guidelines. \nChanting cleans the mirror of my heart to develop the clarity to slowly (but surely I’m told) find the Love and along the way\, try to step out of my own reactionary behavior and see and be with all as it is. Maybe it will take at least another 108 lifetimes\, but all I know is I have this moment – now.\nNina Rao learned traditional chants (bhajans) from her grandfather in a village in south India when she was nine years old. The chants quietly stayed with her until she rediscovered chanting with Krishna Das in New York in 1996. For many years Nina has been Krishna Das’ business manager and assistant\, often touring with him playing cymbals and singing. In 2007\, she recorded the track ‘Nina Chalisa’ on Krishna Das’ CD “Flow of Grace ” and in January 2013\, she released her debut album\, “Antarayaami – Knower of All Hearts”. Nina regularly leads kirtan\, chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa\, and sings for yoga classes in her hometown of Brooklyn\, NY and beyond.\nninaraochant.com

Our normal coping skills may not be enough and when we are anxious\, grieving or under pressure\, we may make poor choices that make things worse.\nIn this Satsang\, Asokananda and Ramananda will present the distilled wisdom of all the Yoga teachings as practical principles that lead to skillful action and wise choices. We will explore how to take refuge in the unchanging source of wisdom within us and how each of us can learn to access that presence in a unique way.\nSatsang\, a special time for us to come together as a community. In Sanskrit\, Sat means truth and Sangha means community. Satsang offers an opportunity to come together to share spiritual teachings. The philosophy of Integral Yoga is explored\, often through an informal discussion. Although spiritual paths may diverge\, the act of sharing spiritual teachings with others is inspiring and creates a solid foundation for continued practice.\nSwami Ramananda is the Executive Director of the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco and a greatly respected senior teacher in the Integral Yoga tradition\, who has been practicing Yoga for over 45 years. Ramananda offers practical methods of integrating the timeless teachings and practices of Yoga into daily life\, and transforming the painful aspects of human experience into steps toward realizing one’s full potential. He leads beginner\, intermediate and advanced level Yoga teacher training programs in San Francisco\, and offers a variety of programs in many locations in the U.S.\, Europe and South America. Ramananda co-developed the Stress Management Teacher Training program with Swami Vidyananda\, has trained many teachers to bring Yoga into corporate\, hospital and medical settings\, and has taught mind/body wellness programs in many locations. He is a certified Yoga therapist and founding board member of the Yoga Alliance\, a national registry that supports and promotes yoga teachers as professionals. He is a co-founder of The Spiritual Action Initiative (SAI) which brings together individuals committed to working for social justice for all beings and for the care and healing of our natural world. His warmth\, wisdom and sense of humor have endeared him to many. \nSwami Asokananda\, E-RYT 500\, a monk since 1973\, is one of Integral Yoga’s foremost teachers—known for his warmth\, intelligence\, and good humor. His teaching comes out of his own practice and experience\, having absorbed the wisdom of his Guru\, Sri Swami Satchidananda.\nWhile he enjoys sharing the practical wisdom of yogic philosophy (especially the great Indian scripture\, the Bhagavad Gita)\, he also loves his practice of Hatha Yoga. He is one of Yogaville’s primary instructors for intermediate and advanced Hatha Yoga teacher trainings.\nHe presently serves as president at the Integral Yoga Institute in New York City. Before this position\, he served as the President of Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville and Integral Yoga International.
