In a way, our Yoga practice is a responsibility. It prepares us to contribute peace and harmony to a world desperately in need of those qualities. A sincere and dedicated practice frees us from all the emotions and stories clouding the mind.
That is why our spiritual practice is so important — to quiet the voice of the ego-mind and allow the deeper Self to emerge with its clarity and wisdom. Since it is so difficult to disengage the mind from its habitual thought patterns, we can begin with asana practice to stabilize the body, and then pranayama, to calm the nerves and influence the mind.
Whenever we touch the source of Light within, we become a beacon of Light, a presence of peace that naturally radiates from our hearts.
