Integral Yoga Kirtan with Snehan Born & Sherry Gayatri Vandyke
Saturday, March 24 | 7:00-8:30pm
Kirtan, a form of Bhakti Yoga, is the ancient practice of singing the names of the divine, a gift from the ancient teachers of India. So often our minds are filled with daily problems and concerns and it is difficult to remember our life’s higher purpose. Participating in Kirtan devotional music provides a way to rise above the pettiness of everyday life.
Please join us for call and response singing and meditation with live instrumentation and more! No music experience is necessary. Children are welcome.
Snehan Born has four decades of experience with yoga and has been teaching since 2000. Snehan resides and teaches at Integral Yoga Institute of San Francisco and teaches at Mission Blue Center in Brisbane. He has also led teacher trainings at Satchidananda Ashram, Yogaville, Virginia and The Integral Yoga Institute, NYC. Snehan is certified in all levels of Integral Yoga Hatha and has received additional certifications in Pranayama, Meditation, Raja Yoga and Stress Management from Integral Yoga and “Life of a Yogi” from Sri Dharma Mittra. He has also studied with Sharon Gannon and David Life of Jivamukti Yoga in NYC. In 2001 he received “Conscious Eating”, a live foods certification from Dr. Gabriel Cousens at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Arizona. Snehan has lived and traveled extensively within India over 9 trips and studied with many teachers there. He has taught yoga all over the US as well as in India, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan and Europe.
Sherry Gayatri Van Dyke discovered yoga as a teenager, when her Mom bought Swami Satchidananda’s classic Hatha yoga book. Years later as an adult, she moved to Satchidananda Ashram where she served for seven years as head of the photo department, as a pujari at the Chidambaram Shrine in Yogaville, and as a Kirtan leader at Satsang. She continues her yogic journey on the west coast as an Integral Yoga seminarian, with the goal of one day becoming an Integral Yoga Minister. Gayatri’s greatest joy is in the Bhakti practices of puja and kirtan, and in teaching raja yoga and meditation to children.
